Actually, it was a whole WEEKEND out! Grammy B. came to watch Leah and Wyatt the other weekend while Ryan and I went to Chicago for a mini getaway. (Thanks Mom!) We took the train downtown, and were able to walk right to our hotel, and pretty much everywhere else we had planned to go. On Friday night we saw Million Dollar Quartet, and on Saturday night, we went to the Lyric Opera House and saw Parsifal. (It has been a loooong time since I've had two late-night out and about events!) We had so much fun - missed the kiddos of course, but it was nice to be able to sleep in, eat a meal without getting up a million times, and have actual adult conversations! Sometimes the afternoons and evenings are so hectic, it feels like we haven't talked in days! We also went to Garrett's popcorn 3 times. At least. (And I admit I was wrong about the whole cheese popcorn mixed with caramel corn thing - it IS delicious!) And we went shopping downtown for a birthday present for Leah. (That will be the next post!)
The Coronavirus pandemic has us hunkering down at home like many people around the country, and we are working to make the best of it! The kids miss their friends at school and are disappointed about various things that have been cancelled or put on hold indefinitely, however there we are enjoying the time together as a family. The days are full of extra stories, games, puzzles, bike rides, and walks. We have started a few activities as part of our "school at home" routine and figured that resurrecting the blog might be a fun way to share what the kids are up to. But first, since the last time I wrote on the blog James was just learning how to crawl, and now James is a 4-year-old big brother, we figured we should officially introduce Mr. Samuel Drexel on the blog! Sam is 9 months old now and he is lots of fun. The kids have figured out a few ways to get him belly laughing in recent days. We all laugh when he crawls after a pilates ball and pounces...
