The Perfect Tree!

We had our annual Christmas tree outing last weekend; we go to a nearby Christmas tree farm where you can cut down your own tree.  Wyatt fell asleep in the car, so Grandma R. stayed with him while we set off to find the perfect tree with Leah.  Leah was very determined to find the right tree, and every five seconds she was shouting, "GUYS!  Follow me - I FOUND IT!  I found the perfect tree!"  If you have a minute to watch the video, you can see some of her perfect trees - hah!  We played some hide and seek in the trees and just walked around for a while.  Though it would've been nice if there had been some snow, the warmer weather let us enjoy being outside a bit.  Wyatt and Grandma joined us for the last of our search, and then we got hot chocolate.  All in all, a very successful trip!

St. Nicholas Day & Christmas Play

Happy St. Nicholas Day! Leah & Wyatt found goodies in their shoes this Thursday. (Love her bed head in this picture!)   On Friday, we had the pleasure of watching Leah and Wyatt in their first Christmas "play." Leah played a sheep, and then she had a costume change in order to play Mary. Wyatt was an angel... He did not have any speaking lines. :) They were both fantastic.  I thought Leah might get shy, but she did not.  She belted out "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" with all her little heart.  And Wyatt avoided having a meltdown until after the play.  (It started right at his bedtime!) Wyatt's being held in the back row - he's wearing red pants.   Mary with Baby Jesus

Weekend Getaway to Indy

Despite Ryan's SEC snobbery, we have decided to make an annual tradition of going to the Big Ten football championship game.  Last year MSU played, which was fun for me, even though Ryan cheered for the Badgers secretly when he thought I wasn't looking.  This year we watched Nebraska get their behids kicked by Wisconsin.    Grammy and Papa joined us for the weekend to watch the kiddos (thanks Grammy and Papa!) so we could go to the game with friends.  But, that was not before we had some fun at the Indianapolis Kids Museum - which is awesome, if you ever get the chance to visit.  They had a big slide set up for the Jingle Days event, a big ice castle to climb in, and many engaging exhibits for all.  Lots of pictures - I just couldn't pick!

Thanksgiving 2012

As promised, here are some photos from Thanksgiving!

Wyatt's 5 Months

Two posts in one day.  Woah.  5 day weekends are nice!   So Wyatt is 5 months as of today, and he just had a giant explosion of new skills.  He started rolling over a while ago, but now he rolls down constantly - the second you lay him down.  (Makes diaper changes interesting...)  He is also getting good at repeated rolling and getting himself all the way across the room.  This leads me to have small panic attacks because I go to put a dish in the sink, or let the dog out, and I come back and he's GONE!  Until I hear him giggling under the coffee table.  Stinker.    He grabs for everything - hair, glasses, furniture, sweatshirt drawstrings, toys, dog ears, sister ears, your dinner... And he gets very excited about new toys.  He continues to be a smiley and happy little guy.  (See video below for proof!)   Hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving!  We'll post pictures from our Thanksgiving soon.  Our house feels quiet with just the four of us home, and we miss ya'l

Happy 4th B-Day Leah!

It is crazy to think that for four years, I have been separating our family laundry into darks, lights, and pinks, and cleaning glitter out of the lint trap of the dryer.  For four years, we have been blessed to have Miss Leah Catherine in our lives!  She turned four last week, and she couldn't have been more excited for her birthday.  She tiptoed into our room at about 5:50am and whisper-shouted, "Hey guys!  Guess What?!  I'm FOUR now!  Can you measure me on the wall now?!"  We made her wait awhile before we measured her on the wall.  Her birthday included her favorite meals, a trip to the mall to pick out new clothes, a turn on the mall-jumpy-trampoline-thing (sadly, the mall choo-choo is gone...), and more!     Daddy cooked Leah's birthday breakfast request: biscuits! With butter.  Of course.   Uncle Greg let Leah paint his nails. Pink with sparkles.  Beautiful! FOUR!    For dinner, Leah chose a restaurant that serves her favorite

Halloween!

It was a cold, windy Halloween here this year, but we had a good time never the less!  Many families out east were facing rough times, so we considered ourselves blessed to be able to do something as frivolous as dressing up in silly costumes and trick-or-treating.  Leah decided she wanted to be an angel this year, and Wyatt "decided" to be a baseball.  :)  They were both pretty cute if I do say so myself!  I thought Wyatt would be grumpy when we put him in his costume; I figured if I got one good picture it would be worth the time it took to make it!  But he was happy as a clam and he smiled and cooed away, so I got lots of great pictures.  He was certainly the warmest of of us all during trick-or-treating, although he only went the length of one block  before I took him inside again.  (Leah and Ryan kept going - I think Leah would have trick-or-treated all night if we let her!)

Wyatt - 4 Months

Wyatt is now 4 whopping months old!  He continues to be a big sweetheart, an early riser, and a cuddly guy.  No pictures of Leah today; she wasn't in the mood.  But I'll try to update again soon...I've been a little blog delinquent since returning to work!
